Dear Jazz Supporter,
After finishing four incredible seasons of jazz music in Princeton we are forced to look at some uncomfortable economic and geographic realities regarding keeping the jazz machine going, and have decided after serious and difficult consideration to suspend the operation. Having an enormous passion for this art form is something I know you share with me, and without it no miracle business plan would have had a chance to succeed for as long as we did. But we did succeed for four marvelous seasons. We succeeded by presenting a format for dozens of passionate artists to share their musical beauty with you - passionate listeners - in jazz music’s natural habitat - the jazz club. This is how I choose to define success.
To all the dedicated jazz musicians that have graced our stage over the years - thank you for your commitment to this great American art form and for being supporters of our club. Your kind words have helped spread the word about our mission, and your music has inspired more than you know.
We will keep the buildings in Princeton for the time being. To keep our liquor license active and sale worthy, it is a possibility that on an occasional limited basis we might try to host an artist from time to time if there was enough interest. But a commitment to a full season is a huge undertaking and not in the cards. The possibility of putting together some form of music venue here in Oshkosh is an idea that could germinate after acquiring perspective from a needed hiatus. I’ll keep this website up and use it to update any plans I might have for either Oshkosh or Princeton, and I hope to be able to use the Fox Note website to list an ongoing roster of the many jazz listening opportunities in the area.
Thanks for being such great supporters and know that your enthusiasm for jazz is what has made the Fox Note such a great place these last few years. Please continue to feed and water live jazz wherever it grows.
Best to you,
Joe Tondu
